Why It Works

The Challenge

The Challenge

HiNoter's product turns meetings and audio recordings into searchable, structured notes. The transcripts have to be accurate. The speaker labels have to be right. And the cost per hour has to leave room for a margin.

On Recall.ai, the team had two problems compounding. The first was per-participant audio that arrived as a mixed-down stream on a couple of platforms, which forced HiNoter to lean on heuristics to attribute speaker labels. The second was the price. Recall lists at $0.50 per bot-hour, plus transcription on top, plus the surcharges that show up at volume.

The Decision

The Decision

HiNoter evaluated MeetStream with a single test: run the same set of meetings through both APIs and compare the transcripts. The MeetStream side returned per-participant audio on Zoom, Google Meet, and Microsoft Teams natively. Diarization on Deepgram was tighter because the audio coming in was already split by speaker. Costs at $0.35 per bot-hour, with optional transcription bundled at $0.10, were materially lower at the volume HiNoter was running.

The migration kit took the team less than a week. The endpoint shape was deliberately close to Recall's so the application layer barely had to change.

The Result

The Result

Speaker attribution accuracy improved on the platforms where Recall had been folding audio into a single track. Unit economics moved 30 percent in HiNoter's favor at their production volume. The transcription pipeline, which had been a quiet bottleneck on the old stack, is now the part nobody has to think about.

"Same product, cleaner transcripts, lower bill. Migration paid for itself in the first month."

Why It Works

Why It Works

  • Per-participant audio on all three platforms: isolated streams on Zoom, speaker-attributed on Google Meet and Microsoft Teams.

  • Deepgram and Sarvam transcription bundled at $0.10 per hour, predictable, not surprise-surcharged.

  • Drop-in Recall-compatible endpoints, the application code barely moved.

  • Volume pricing drops to $0.25 per hour, costs improve as you scale.

"We never had to think about bot infrastructure. That is the entire point. We picked up an API and shipped a notetaker."
